work record - Two.

Work diary.

In this second shoot i decided to do self portraiture because i feel as if i could portray my emotion through my photography and make a sort of diary with the photos. This shoot helped me with a number of things like getting my emotions out as i find it hard to express myself to others most of the time. Here are some of the products from the shoot.
I think i achieved what i was aiming for after the last shoot. The lighting used in these pictures create a dark mood with i was aiming for. With emotion, photography is the only way i can express myself, so this helped me a lot. The centre picture signifies A - level work becoming too much for me to handle mentally and getting on top of me physically and emotionally. The two others are pretty self explanatory of how i was feeling at the time.

What i will develop upon in my next shoot:

In my next shoot i will use makeup to express my emotion and use photoshop to merge the two emotions, the one that i mask and the emotion i mask it with. (happiness and sadness). i'm hoping it should look a bit like this.

Work record. - one.

Work record - emotion.
My first idea of going out into harlow and taking pictures of randoms with their emotions written on a white board didn't work because people seemed to be too busy to stop and give me a minute or two to take a picture. Most of them were unfriendly and the photos i got were useless to i went on to take pictures of my college friend showing anger and sadness in the pictures. Here are some of them;

These two photos i am pretty proud of as they both achieve what i was aiming for in the shoot and look as professional as i wanted. Also the photo of Gemma (left) shows depression and sadness well because of mood lighting whereas the photo of Summer shows the same through the dead eyes and expressionless face with messed up hair. Two of the same result with different ways of getting there.

What i'd like to achieve and make better:
Since doing this shoot, i have no way of developing these ideas. So i am going to focus on make up and emotion on my next shoot. If i was doing this next time i would want to have more ideas in the studio and notice photo oppotunities. i would like my work to be like these photos;

Kylie Woon
acloudhouse.blogspot.co.uk
Kylie Woon is a self-portrait photographer who portrays emotion in her photography. I have chosen this photographer because she is the doing the same as I am in my development shoots. Here are a few of her photos:

Evaluation:
 This photo is interesting as it is heavily photo shopped but I don’t know how she actually put it together. I would like to learn. I think the floating copy of her is what she is really feeling and the laying flat one is how she is portraying it. I would like to do this.
I really like this photo because it shows emotion quite like no other photographer would portray.  She has used this sort of photography to release her feelings and that is much like what I am doing with my work.

This photo is like an indication of entrapment and her not being able to express her self. I really like the idea of entrapment. I also notice that she wears dressed in all her shoots, which I think captures the movement of floating.

This photo suggests a massive fall on her face. I don’t like this picture as much because its quite zoomed out and I’m not much of a fan.

How this photographer has influenced me;

i have done self portraits of emotion but I haven’t yet done the hovering idea. I think I may develop and include that in my work.
acloudhouse.blogspot.co.uk i found this photographer that i think is really interesting. Her name is Kylie Woon. She portrays emotion in her photography.

Dave Flynn is an example of what i would like to create. His macro photography uses models and everyday objects to create a weird picture.

Development for next shoot.

I've already done two shoots, my next one will hopefully include paint and associated colours to the feeling. It will also include flour and make up for extra effect. I'm focusing on the depression and anger side rather than happiness. As in my previous posts, i will try to replicate Luco Pierro's work, look below for a link to his blog.

Luco Pierro uses flour and water to make his emotion pictures more impressional. He also uses the positioning on light to make his picture darker and to set the mood. Pierro's pictures also use the formal element form, so i will be concentrating on from in my work. Furthermore, i will be using the same technique with lighting and flour on one of my models faces. The difference between Pierro's and my photography is that i will not be doing self portraits. This is because i prefer shooting other people rather than myself.

idea development.

My original idea was to show the corruption of the photography industry by not editing photos. this would be natural beauty based. However, i have changed my mind and as i own a macro lens i will focus on macro photography. This was inspired by this photo. However i've decided to do another shoot totally unrelated to macro. this will be of people with their emotion hashtagged.

Personal holiday photo from Cyprus.

Reflection of the holiday.

Formal element; Colour.

The unique leaves of summer.

I shot this photo in my first couple of weeks of college. It wasn't actually in my colour contact sheet, i took it in my texture contact sheet. i thought it was more appropriate for colour. i really like this photo because the colours complement each other but they are not usual colours for summer times leaves which is why i enjoy it.

Recently in AS we have been looking at all the formal elements, i will be posting all my favourite pictures from each shoot.
